Nearby Areas of Interest. Calpe is ideally placed to visit other Costa Blanca or inland towns or indeed further afield in Spain, being close to the A7 motorway junctions. Boat trips from Calpe port visit Costa Blanca towns such as Denia and Altea and ferries to Mallorca and Ibiza operate from Denia. The Jalon valley which is about 20 minutes away from Calpe by car, is a centre of wine production and you can visit bodegas to sample and buy the local wines. Valencia to the north has many fine shops , a new Arts & Science Park as well as many historic buildings, restaurants and tapas bars, many of which offer the local dish Paella. To the south, Elche, a centre for shoe production in Spain, is also world famous for its palm groves.
Further inland is the 16th century Moorish hilltop village at Guadalest. Older children and adventurous adults will enjoy Terra Mitica, one of Europe's largest theme parks near Benidorm, as well as Aqualandia Water Park and the Mundomar Sea Life Centre. If you are looking for night life, head to Benidorm where the Benidorm Palace offers a spectacular floor show and dinner. Coach trips to all these locations can be arranged through the various ticket agencies in Calpe.
